This trip starts and ends in the village of Bloomsburg. There is a parking area at the road crossing of the Waterford Heritage Rail Trail on Old Highway 24. Alternate start/end points that also have parking areas include:
Concession 7 just outside of Waterford where there is parking for the Waterford Heritage Rail Trail and Boston where there is parking across from the church.
From Bloomsburg, follow Concession 12 Townsend east for a few kilometers. You’ll cross a few main roads but for the most part will be on a back country road, riding past picturesque farmland interspersed with woodlots. Coming up a hill between two woodlots, turn left onto Villa Nova Road. This fairly flat road has wide curves until you hit the village of Villa Nova.
Pass through Villa Nova and continue up the road for a few more kilometers before you hit the village of Bealton. In Bealton, turn left onto Norfolk County Road 19 and head west toward Boston. In Boston there is a small general store where you can purchase water before heading out on the second leg of your trip. Continue heading west out of Boston and turn left onto Old Highway 24.
This road has wide smooth turns with a gentle flow, perfect for cruising by and taking in the scenery of more gorgeous farmland and century homes. Just before you hit the town of Waterford, turn right onto Concession 7 and ride through historic Round Plains, where you’ll see fields and fields of sweet potatoes. Here you’ll find Round Plains Plantation, a farm and bakery operation that produces some delicious and healthy snacks!
Once you hit Highway 24, turn left and then take a quick right onto Windham Road 7. The next road you come to will be Windham East Quarter Line Road, turn left and follow this for a few kilometers. You will pass through the small village of Lynnville before coming to Windham Road 12 where you will turn left. Take this road until you hit Highway 24 in less than a kilometer. Turn left onto Highway 24 and then take a quick right onto Old Highway 24/Concession 12 Townsend which will take you back to your car.
While you’re there, why not check out the Waterford Heritage Rail Trail and plan a trip off-road next time!
